Rite of Christian Initation of
Adults (RCIA) is the means the Church uses to
welcome unbaptized and baptized non-Catholics into the Church and to fully
initiate Catholic adults who have not been Confirmed. Because of this, the
program is composed of both catechumens and candidates. Catechumens are those
people who have not been Baptized in the Trinitarian formula while candidates
are those who have. The process begins in late September with full initiation
at the Easter Vigil. Sessions are conducted on Wednesday evenings.
